1. Is prenatal massage safe during pregnancy? Yes — prenatal massage is safe for healthy pregnancies and can provide many benefits such as pain relief, relaxation, and reduced swelling. I utilize positioning and techniques specifically designed for pregnant women, ensuring you are safe and comfortable throughout the session. This approach is part of my personalized massage therapy offerings.

2. What happens during my first session? At the beginning of your first visit, I will ask a few questions about your health, pregnancy history, and any areas of discomfort. Together, we will discuss your goals and what you are feeling that day, allowing me to customize the treatment. Then I’ll begin the hands-on session using gentle techniques suitable for your needs, incorporating elements of osteopathic therapy.

3. Do I need a doctor’s note before receiving treatment? If you have a high-risk pregnancy or any medical complications, yes — a doctor’s clearance is required before treatment. For healthy, low-risk pregnancies, a doctor’s note is not needed.

4. What should I wear to my appointment? Please wear comfortable clothing. You will be properly draped during the treatment, and only the area being treated will be uncovered. For manual osteopathy sessions, stretchy or loose-fitting clothing is helpful.

5. Does the treatment hurt? No — treatments are gentle and adapted to your comfort level. I always check in with you during the session to ensure the pressure is comfortable and safe for your body. This is part of my commitment to providing therapeutic solutions.

6. Can I receive a massage if I have a high-risk pregnancy? Yes — but only with a doctor’s clearance. Once cleared by your physician, I can safely provide treatment using appropriate techniques and positioning, which may include aspects of osteopathic therapy.

7. When is the best time to start prenatal massage? Prenatal massage is safe anytime after the first trimester (from 13 weeks to 40 weeks). Whether you are early in your pregnancy or nearing the end, remember — it’s never too late to enjoy a massage and experience relief and relaxation, especially in South Edmonton.
